Introduction of incentivised waste collection charges.

As you all are probably aware The Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan, has signed new legislation, the Waste Management (Collection Permit) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2023, introducing incentivized charging for waste collection in the commercial sector from 1st July 2023.

A study by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revealed that 70% of the average commercial waste bin contents could be recycled, and 60% of food waste bins are edible, causing potential material loss and high costs for businesses.

At Prepsheets, we understand the importance of waste management and the need to prioritize prevention and reuse in reducing food waste. Our platform is specifically designed for professional kitchens, offering users accurate portion sizes that have been refined over time to ensure the right amount of food is prepared for each dish. This helps them order only what is necessary for expected service, minimizing waste. In case there are leftovers, Prepsheets allows users to create a database of specials, maintaining accurate recipe data and enabling quick adjustments on the go. By incorporating Prepsheets into their workflow, kitchens can boost productivity, achieve better margins, and work sustainably.

In line with our mission to promote sustainable kitchens with minimal food waste and without disrupting the creative process, Tara had the opportunity to address the Food Cloud team on the 21st of July.

We remain committed to supporting our customers in their journey towards efficient and sustainable kitchen practices. Together, we can make a positive impact on the environment and reduce food waste without compromising the culinary experience.
